It’s finally arrived! As anyone who has visited Melbourne in the last 6 months will confirm, you couldn’t look at a bus, tram or billboard without being aware that the first international production of Disney’s musical Beauty and The Beast to visit Australia in 30 years was coming in 2024. New Zealand has never experienced an international production of this most dazzling of musicals. Created in 1991 with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice, this new, re-imagined production transforms the stage of Melbourne’s magnificent Her Majesty’s Theatre into the provincial town and Baroque castle we know so well. And has, from newspaper accounts, been prompting mid-performance standing ovations from its audiences. As TIME OUT magazine puts it in their review;
‘From the moment the curtain rises, it’s clear this is a large-scale musical with all the bells, whistles….and visual splendour you could ever hope to see. However, all that Disney investment would be useless without the superbly talented cast….if there’s one thing you’ll remember, it’s the show-stopping, no-holds-barred ensemble numbers.’
Bay Tours invite you to join them, in November, and enjoy a long weekend in Australia’s cultural capital, Melbourne. As well as Premium seats at this incredible theatre experience, you’ll enjoy 3 nights in the elegance and comfort of the 5-Star hotel known simply as The Windsor. Melbourne’s grandest hotel, right in the centre of the city’s theatreland, has been a bastion of the social scene of the city for more than a century. It was The Windsor that introduced ‘Afternoon Tea’ to Australia, and we’ll experience it, in all its pomp and plush surroundings, for ourselves as part of our stay. There’s plenty of free time to shop, check out the world-class galleries and museums or wander the famous laneways and arcades. And we’ll find out why Melbourne is considered one of the great culinary hubs as well.
Don’t miss out on experiencing the musical theatre event of the year, along with quality time spent in one of the great cities of the world.
