Get ready for an unforgettable night out to The Full Monty at The Tabard Theatre in Napier! Based on the beloved hit film, this heart-warming and laugh-out-loud theatrical production follows the fortunes of six unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York. With no jobs, money or prospects, desperation and depression is setting in. When the men see their wives and other local women going crazy over a visiting group of male strippers, an idea begins to emerge. Overcoming their jealousy and feelings or emasculation, they decide to make some quick cash by forming their own act – a team of strippers with ‘real man’ bodies. However, their rehearsals are a challenge for them all. As they prepare for the performance of their lives, they are tested and exposed, both physically and emotionally. Overcoming their fears, self-consciousness, and inner demons the men realize that they are strong together and discover that courage, friendship, and a bit of humour can go a long way. Giving them the confidence to finally ‘let it go’ and reveal all!
As usual, the legendary hospitality of Napier Operatic Society will be in full flight with dinner there before the show. We are so lucky to have such an accomplished and talented group delivering outstanding musical productions time and again. Come join in the fun as we watch the frailties of the male ego ‘exposed’.
