This edition of our Progressive Lunch is a stunner! We begin on the Ahuriri waterfront where the new, hip place to eat is Madame Social on the corner of West and Custom Quays. Here the team that created Market St in central Napier have risen to a whole new level of atmosphere and ambition. We’ll enjoy early Autumn views across the old port as we sample our Entrée. Then it’s off to Hastings and the new Municipal Building complex with its collection of eateries on Heretaunga St. Cellar 495 is the brainchild of Michael Hendry, former CEO of Trinity Hill and Smith & Sheth wineries. He has opened an eatery and wine bar coinciding with him being awarded the rare Master Of Wine qualification. He is only the 495th person in the world to attain this – hence the name. We’ll enjoy our Main Course in this beautiful space. Then the contrast of surroundings couldn’t be greater as we take the back roads to Birdwood’s Café & Gallery south of Havelock North. Our setting for Dessert will be in the sculpture garden and a magnificent way to finish a memorable lunch. This day will fill quickly, so don’t delay in getting your place.
