Join us for this 4-day Southland adventure centred around an iconic celebration of southern Kai, the annual Bluff Oyster & Food Festival. These days the festival is about much more than just the humble oyster. All manner of seafood and other ‘wild’ foods are celebrated and presented in ways you never dreamed possible.
Day 1: Today we fly from Hawke’s Bay to Invercargill and settle into our accommodation at the Ascot Park Hotel.
Day 2: Today is the day of the Bluff Oyster & Food Festival itself. Imagine an abundance of oysters (surprise, surprise), pāua, salmon, blue cod, mussels, crayfish, and whitebait. Add local wild venison, mutton-bird, wild pork, and this is a festive feast like no other. Spend the day sampling delicious food, enjoying live music and cultural performances, and soaking up the festive atmosphere alongside thousands of fellow food lovers. We transport you there and back, of course.
Day 3: We visit the astonishing Transport World in the morning, with free time in the afternoon. Perhaps a meander through beautiful Queens Park or check out the shops at
Invercargill’s new mall – Invercargill Central.
Day 4: A relaxed start to the day with a morning cuppa in town before we head west to Riverton and stretch our legs with a wander on the beach. After a relaxing lunch at Aparima, we’re off to the airport to make our way home at the end of a superb weekend in the deep south.
