It has always been the way of things that people in the regions are often forced to gravitate towards the bigger cities for work. The bright lights are an added incentive for the younger ones. Well, here’s a story about the reverse happening. Back in 2017, Auckland residents Campbell and Nicole Sprague bought an old villa in Dannevirke that they fell in love with. It wasn’t long after that they made the permanent move from Mt Eden to the Tararua town. Three years later mega experienced chef Campbell enticed their son, Brock, a veteran of the Auckland hospitality industry for over a decade, to also migrate south with his family. The workload in Auckland was getting on top of him and with a wife and kids Brock decided he needed a change. They leapt upon an opportunity to lease part of the old Public Trust Building on Dannevirke’s main drag that had been The Vault and High Street Bistro was born. Since then, their reputation has spread far and wide with diners coming from as far away as Wellington to heap further acclaim upon the enterprise.
So, on a warm winters’ evening why not enjoy a group ride down there for dinner?
We’ll enjoy a 3-course dinner in this fabulous space and discover what all the fuss is about. We’re very excited to be able to showcase and support a dining venue in a provincial town that’s successfully holding its own. Come and be part of the magic.
