Join us for a fascinating day out as we explore one of the region’s newest and most significant infrastructure developments – the Manawatū–Tararua Highway. We’ll enjoy morning tea at the Dannevirke Services & Citizens Club before heading to Woodville where Shelley Easton from NZTA will join us onboard. As part of the project team, Shelley will provide a unique behind-the-scenes commentary as we travel the 11.5km highway, giving us first-hand insight into its construction and importance to the region.
We’ll then continue on to Palmerston North for a visit to the impressive He Ara Kotahi pedestrian and cycle bridge. This stunning 190-metre-long structure spans the Manawatū River and links key parts of the city with natural walking and cycling paths. Stretch your legs and take a stroll across the bridge, soaking in the tranquil river views and learning more about its cultural and environmental significance.
After working up an appetite, we’ll enjoy a delicious banquet-style lunch at the beautiful Orlando Country. With its picturesque rural setting and warm hospitality, it’s the perfect spot to relax and connect. As a special bonus, Orlando have offered access to their driving range – try your hand at hitting a few balls or simply enjoy watching others take a swing!
A day that combines education, scenic highlights, and a touch of fun – this tour is not to be missed.
