Step back in time and discover the small-town charm and rich local history of Eketāhuna on this delightful winter’s day out.
Our journey begins with a relaxing drive through scenic back roads before arriving at the Middleton Model Railway, where you’ll enjoy a nostalgic look at this lovingly crafted miniature world, complete with a talk by the owner.
Next, we’re off to the warm welcome of the Eketāhuna Club, for a hearty home-style lunch hosted by local identity, Gleny Hansen.
In the afternoon, we visit the historic ANZAC Memorial Bridge at Kaiparoro, where Glenys will share the touching story behind this unique war memorial – one of the few of its kind in New Zealand, combining both monument and function in a single graceful structure.
With comfort stops along the way and plenty of good company, this day promises to be a fascinating and easy-paced outing celebrating the stories of New Zealand’s past.
