Bay Tours are delighted to introduce an opportunity – over two days – to visit some of the finest private gardens in Hawke’s Bay, and all in aid of the wonderful Riding For The Disabled service based in Hastings. Since the formation of Riding For The Disabled in New Zealand more than 50 years ago, Hawke’s Bay has been at the forefront and Hawke’s Bay Garden Affair is a registered charity whose purpose is to create and manage this major fundraiser event for the group.
Nearly 30 of the finest gardens in Hawke’s Bay, most of which are private and not usually open for visitors, will welcome ticket-holders of Hawke’s Bay Garden Affair, in all their late-Spring glory, to support this wonderful cause. And Bay Tours will be right there.
Whilst we are privy to the incredible list of gardens that will be involved, the information cannot be made public until after the tickets are released, to ensure the continued privacy of the property owners who have so generously agreed to be involved.
However, we can tell you that the scope of gardens is huge. From farm & country house gardens to the private playgrounds of prominent Hawke’s Bay families and virtually hidden gardens that even their neighbours don’t know the scale of. The list is stellar!
Hawke’s Bay Garden Affair ranges over 3 days from the 7th to the 9th of November.
We have created two distinct and completely different itineraries for the first and last days of the event, selecting what we think is a fine cross-section of thrilling gardens to visit. We’ll visit 15 gardens across the 2 days. So, with a days’ break in-between, the keenest amongst us can book for both days knowing there’s no double-up on anything.
We will visit 7 gardens today, all in and around the beautiful Tuki tuki River Valley and each primed and perfect for our visit. A picnic lunch has been arranged at one of the gardens.
