Join Bay Tours for a classic Kiwi day out as we journey through some of the most remote and breathtaking scenery in the North Island to the stunning shores of Lake Waikaremoana.
Travelling ‘Ken’s Way’, we’ll take the scenic route through the rugged landscapes of northern Hawke’s Bay, stopping along the way to enjoy morning tea overlooking the mighty Mōhaka River and its famous viaduct. As we venture deeper into Te Urewera, you’ll be treated to ever-changing views of native bush, winding roads, and untouched wilderness.
At beautiful Onepoto Bay, nestled on the edge of Lake Waikaremoana, we’ll enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch and time for a gentle stroll while taking in the serenity of one of New Zealand’s most treasured natural landscapes. The lake’s rich history, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic surroundings make it a truly special destination.
Our journey home includes a visit to the historic Tuai Power Station and, of course, an ice cream stop in Wairoa before heading back to Hawke’s Bay.
Filled with spectacular scenery, fascinating local stories, and the simple pleasures of a picnic by the lake, this is a wonderful day out exploring one of New Zealand’s remote gems. And like Sinatra, Ken does it “My Way”.
