Lunch at The Duke of Edinburgh – Pōrangahau

One of the prettiest parts of our region in winter is that area of Central Hawke’s Bay between State Highway 2 and the coast. The bare silvery trees look magical against the rolling green hillsides and the shadows cast by the low winter sun into the valleys add another dimension to stunning vistas. It’s been a long time since we drove the charming Wanstead road out to Pōrangahau and The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel for lunch. With the roaring fire warming us, we’ll enjoy 3 courses of wonderful home cooking and the atmosphere of one of Hawke’s Bays iconic country pubs. And if the weather allows, we’ll enjoy time to wander on beautiful Pōrangahau Beach. The scenic backroads continue on our return journey through Elsthorpe as we follow the Tuki tuki River valley northwards. Join us for a fabulous winter day out and a classic country lunch.
