What's Included

Spend the day immersed in the grace, charm, and rich stories of some of Hawke’s Bay’s most distinctive historic homes. This elegant & engaging day tour offers rare access to private properties that beautifully reflect the region’s heritage & architecture. Our journey begins with a scenic drive through to historic Maraekakaho to view several historic buildings associated with the giant Maraekakaho Station that dominated this part of Hawke’s Bay in the provinces pioneering days. Once part of this gigantic station, at Greenhill, in the Raukawa Valley, we’ll enjoy a talk & guided tour of this stunning property with the current owners, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we continue to Redcliffe, near Ōtātara, which is one of the two original Dolbel family homesteads. Here our host Sue Calcinai will share tales of the home’s past as we stroll through the home and its lovely gardens. Finally, we’re welcomed to Silverford a Charles Natusch designed home in the Dartmoor Valley, where we’ll enjoy a tour, and a delightful afternoon tea, with the owners, in gracious surroundings. Join us for a relaxed day exploring the beauty & history tucked behind the gates of a few of Hawke’s Bay’s finest private country residences.
